Winter is coming! As they do every year, the slush, snow and cold are about to revisit for a few months. Can’t wait, eh?
Even if there are days when you’d rather be soaking up the sun at 30 degrees, there’s still plenty of fun to be had in winter in Quebec. And that’s exactly what we want to do today: make you fall back in love with winter by sharing a great activity you can do with friends or family at one of our most treasured partners: Martin le pêcheur.
What is Martin le pêcheur?
Located a 10-minute drive from Village Suisse, Martin le pêcheur is a multi-activity centre in Sainte-Adèle. This splendid 17-hectare centre, developed in collaboration with biologists and engineers (no less), features three main types of activities: fishing, dog sledding and snowmobiling. Let’s unpack them quickly.
Lure fish in the Laurentians
First up is fishing. Martin le pêcheur is open in summer and winter. That means you can lure the fish as early as April or December, depending on your preference. As soon as the ice is thick enough, summer fishing gives way to ice fishing.
The ice fishing is done on ice (no kidding), huts not included. Aside from your snowsuit, the centre provides you with everything you need: equipment and bait. This is the perfect activity to relive the age-old Quebec of the Ovila era, version 2.0. The typical family package (1 to 5 people) includes up to 8 trout, enough for a festive feast.
A dog sledding experience unlike any other
Next comes dog sledding. Martin le pêcheur invites you to take part in the ultimate authentic experience. Accompanied by a professional guide, you will have the chance to steer your own team and even take turns if one of your friends or family members wants to “take the wheel” at the halfway point.
Nadine and Éric, the owners of the centre, are very considerate of their 34 dogs, which never go out more than 4 times a day. Martin le pêcheur is also one of the few places that offers sledding in an intimate setting, without being paired with very large groups. An immersive experience guaranteed.
Depending on your preferences, you can choose between the Initiation Package or the Complete Experience Package, where, in addition to everything else included, you also learn how to put on dog harnesses and position your canine companions.

Finally comes snowmobiling. This activity will have you riding down kilometres and kilometres of safe and well-groomed trails with a Yamaha GT 1000 cc Touring. The activity, which lasts from 2 to 8 hours, can be done with or without a guide (6 people minimum) and includes the necessary cold weather equipment (boots, helmet and mittens) to stay warm as you traverse the mountains and enchanting landscapes.
And if ever you are interested in snowmobiling AND dog sledding, what can you do? Martin le pêcheur has thought of you with his multi-activity packages, which combine the 2 activities into one full day that you won’t soon forget.
Martin le pêcheur and Village Suisse: a winning team this winter
Let it snow, let it snow… Since it’s inevitable, you might as well have fun while it’s here. When it comes to having an unforgettable experience with friends or family during the cold season, Martin le pêcheur leaves nothing to the imagination. We are convinced that you will love it.
If you are looking for cozy accommodations for your next stay in the Laurentians, remember to book your chalet at Village Suisse. We look forward to welcoming you!
